World Book Day 2025

Author: Millhouse Childcare

On Thursday 6th March, Mill House Nursery took part in World Book Day. Throughout the day we shared stories we had brought in, set up our own library and joined in with arts and crafts. All the staff and children dressed as their favourite story characters, the costumes were all amazing!

Why World Book Day?

‘World Book Day champions the fun of reading. Reading for fun is a big t indicator that a child will grow up to enjoy a happier and more successful life. But here’s the challenge, it’s at an all-time low, with only 1 in 3 children now saying they enjoy reading. We believe children are more likely to read if they enjoy it, so we’re on a mission to encourage them to see reading as an entertaining, social and fun thing to do. We want more children to grow up with a life-long, life-changing habit of reading for fun, and all the benefits this brings.’                                       Source: WBD website
