Here at Mill House Nursery, your child will be at the core of everything we do. We follow ‘In the moment planning’, taking what your child is interested in and turning it into playful learning opportunities that will encourage and develop your child’s learning and growth. Recognising that children learn most effectively when having fun, we promote learning through play as an excellent method for accessing the Early Years Child Care Curriculum.
We understand the importance and significance of choosing the right setting for you and your child. This is why we aim to offer a ‘home from home’ atmosphere, fostering a smooth transition from family life to our settings.
Parental involvement is key to your child’s learning and development. At our sites, we operate a key worker system, which supports both the parent and the child throughout their time with us. Parents are encouraged to share in their child’s development through the sharing of stories, milestones and photos, using our online platform, Famly, to do this.
At Mill House Nursery, we are dedicated to safeguarding the children in our care and providing equal opportunities for all. We offer a secure and stimulating environment that enables your child to develop and grow at their own pace.
We take pride in being a community-oriented Nursery, ensuring that the children are exposed to their surroundings and the world beyond. Weekly visits to nearby parks and excursions to local points of interest are integral to reinforcing learning themes in our child care environment.

Hello, my name is Emily and I own Mill House Childcare in Cawood which I opened in 2014 and Mill House Nursery in Escrick which I opened in 2022.
At Mill House Nursery we aim to offer a warm, friendly, ‘home from home’, nurturing environment with lots of opportunities for fun, educational and stimulating activities.
We have a strong team working at each site with a great wealth of experience of working with children from 0 – 4 years old. This includes staff who are specially trained in the care of babies and toddlers. We also have a qualified teacher at each site who has a great deal of experience working with 3 and 4 year olds to help them prepare for their transition to school.
We are an Ofsted registered setting which means that we have had the business and setting inspected in order to make sure that we are suitable. We follow the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage in an informal, play-based way to help children learn and develop at a pace that meets their individual needs.
We assess the children’s progress regularly and work with you to help them to move forward. We use a programme called Famly to record each child’s progress which gives parents a great insight into their child’s life here at Mill House. Famly captures the magic of a child’s early years’ experience and records their learning in a way that’s both easy and fun for parents to access by app or computer.
If you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
